Blogarama Content Scraper

This is my second blog post today discussing a blog directory content scraper or content thief. Earlier today, I published a blog post on another blog directory content scraper, BlogCatalog. This herein, "copyrighted" blog post puts the notorious spotlight on Blogarama for their scraping of my copyrighted content including images.

I've already said this ... that it is more than concerning how some websites will just plain STEAL your copyrighted content and copyrighted images and make you think it is OK. Calling yourself a blog catalog or blog directory does not make it OK to take without the author's permission their entire blog post with images to post on their website.

Normally, a reputable blog catalog or directory website will ask you if you would like to have your blog included first. Then, after you have granted permission to feature your blog, the blog catalog or directory will share SNIPPETS or an acceptable summary of your copyrighted blogs posts with a link to the ORIGINAL blog post where you can read more and see the original. They will not steal your entire blog post along with all the images to put on their site! That is essentially content theft.

It appears Blogarama is taking my entire blog posts and copyrighted images as soon as I publish them. This illegal practice needs to cease and desist – they do not have my permission to steal my content so blatantly! A reputable website will not steal your work and create duplicate content [that is not theirs] to submit to Google and other search engines to index as theirs.

I had been very busy dealing with all the content thieves on Amazon that were stealing hundreds of my copyrighted designs from my three Zazzle stores to sell as theirs on Amazon. It was well over a year of continuous reporting and finding the same designs popping up again and again with new sellers there who appeared to be mostly from China.

So, I finally seemed to catch up with the thievery on Amazon to next find a site named Pinsdaddy who has stolen hundreds of my copyrighted images to use on their website. But, worse that just using my copyrighted images, they are suggesting these images are stock images that are free to download and use by the reader. Good Grief!! Houston, we have a problem.

I'm still dealing with DMCA Take Down Notices against Pinsdaddy and have now begun to focus on the blog directories, filing first a DMCA Take Down Notice against BlogCatalog. And, today, filing against a blog directory site of Blogarama. I would say Blogarama seems to be much more concerning as they are literally stealing my content as I publish it!!!

As I've said previously, I would think Google can determine that this type of content thievery is happening. What the heck? It does involve Google blogs after all. Particularly concerning is to find my copyrighted image taken from my Google blog appearing in Google image searches as attributable to the scraper blog directories! Hey -- wrong! Google needs to penalize these content thieves now and bar them from future privileges.

This is not the only blog directory type of website that has scraped or stolen my copyrighted content. I'm also just sending out a DMCA Take Down Notice against Blogarama who seems to be STEALING my copyrighted work just as soon as I publish it!!!

I've sent my DMCA Take Down Notice against BlogCatalog to Cloudflare who quickly responded with additional information. Cloudflare advised that BlogCatalog's Hosting Provider is AMAZON-AES - Amazon.com, Inc., US with an Abuse Contact: abuse@amazonaws.com. It's been a few years since I communicated with Amazon AWS regarding a content scraper who kept moving their hosting to give me the runaround ... I hope I am not given the runaround again! I'm getting a bit old to deal with this type of behavior.

I would think Google can tell that this content thievery is happening ... especially when it involves one of their Google blogs! I have seen my newer blog posts copyrighted images appearing in Google searches as attributable to the scraper blog directories! That is really concerning that the original image is not appearing above the scraper blog directories. Just plain wrong! Google needs to penalize these content thieves.

DMCA Take Down Notices on Pinsdaddy

It has been a challenge filing my DMCA Take Down Notices against the website of Pinsdaddy who illegally took probably hundreds of my copyrighted images for use on their website, without my permission. The challenge has come into play that there is a lot of passing the buck or passing the DMCA Take Down Notice on to somebody else to handle.

I am not the only copyright holder affected by this copyright infringement! It is concerning that many of the images used there do bear the copyright imprints of the respective owners yet, Pinsdaddy thinks it is OK to use those copyrighted images!!

DMCA TAKE DOWN ON PINSDADDY TO ENOM

Enom Copyright copyright@enom.com
8:24 PM October 27, 2017

Hello,

Thank you very much for your notification. After researching this matter, we have found that Enom, LLC. is not the webhost, internet service provider, or administrator for the reported domain. Given that we are not the webhost for this domain, the allegedly infringing material identified in your notification does not reside on eNom’s servers. Accordingly, we do not have the technical ability to remove or disable specific items of objectionable content.

Again, due to the limited technical sphere in which Enom operates, we do not believe that we are the correct party to contact regarding this matter. In this instance, we suggest that you contact the party operating the website or the party hosting the website to have this matter properly resolved. A "ping" of the website you indicated often reveals the IP address of the party which probably hosts this website. You may then use https://www.ultratools.com/tools/ipWhoisLookup or another similar tool to identify this party.

Thank you again for your report, and please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions.

Pinsdaddy Copyright Infringement

Are you a blogger or online writer who likes to use images for your articles? Do you observe due diligence when selecting free, non-copyrighted, stock images to use in those articles? It was brought to my attention today that Pinsdaddy is promoting people's copyrighted images for use as stock images. These images have been taken, without permission, from various online sites and posted on Pinsdaddy.

It appears that Pinsdaddy is akin to a content scraper who scraped copyrighted images from Pinterest to use on their website. You see mention of "Pinterest" in the titles of the stolen images when you click on them to come to the download page. Very concerned how Pinterest has been an enabler for content theft and copyright infringement!! I never was very keen on Pinterest just "taking" our copyrighted images for posting to their website and garnering the genuine traffic that our websites and blogs with OUR copyrighted images should be receiving directly.

As I searched on September 25, 2017, I was not finding certain copyrighted images of mine that I had found the day before. Compiling the data from Pinsdaddy of stolen copyrighted images and matching that up with my official publications with my copyrighted images is time-consuming and not particularly rewarding. Here are just some of the stolen copyrighted images:

Tersa Sphinx Moth

Today, December 21, 2016, as I was heading out on a slightly chilly morning, I noticed a Tersa Sphinx Moth perched on my metal stair railing, next to my Florida Room, at the front of my house. I stopped to grab my digital camera to snap a few photos.

I am a very patient, older gal, who had been waiting about six weeks to actually see this very moth. It never flinched as I snapped away at several photos.

Over the past six weeks, I had the privilege to observe the various stages of metamorphosis of this species of moth, from caterpillar to pupa to moth. I am actually waiting to see if a moth emerges from a pupa I have observed for nearly six weeks.

It was November 6, 2016 in Leesburg, Florida, that I first learned of the Tersa Sphinx Moth. I had probably seen that moth throughout my Florida gardens previously, but never knew it was the Tersa Sphinx Moth. That is such an interesting name for a moth that seems to have wings like a Stealth aircraft!

Tersa Sphinx Moth Caterpillar - November 6th

On November 6th, I actually spotted a most unique caterpillar in the corner of my carport, near my side entry door. At first look, it appeared to be a possibly dead millipede ... that was, until I touched it and it moved. Wow, what an amazing insect with those false eyes and the look of a black stinger at the top of its tail end.

When I first saw this caterpillar, I had no idea that it was already preparing to enter the pupa stage. It was lethargic, making me think something might be wrong with it.

Researching the Tersa Sphinx Moth, I learned that a host plant is the Penta. I actually placed that caterpillar out in my front yard, at the base of my periwinkles next to the penta.

Tersa Sphinx Moth Pupa - November 10th

When I checked back on November 10th to see how the caterpillar was doing, I noticed it had begun to transform into a pupa. That was when I found a plastic jar in which I placed the pupa. I loosely placed the lid over the top of the jar to keep other critters out. I have checked on the status of the pupa daily, in that jar, since November 10th!

The Tersa Sphinx Moth Pupa on November 30th appeared fairly uniform in width throughout the length of the pupa.

It has been over 40 days that I have observed the Tersa Sphinx Moth in its Pupa stage. Judging by the look of the Pupa today, it seems there is a bit of transformation. Notice the long dark stripe that extends from top to bottom on the pupa? I am wondering if per chance the sighting of the Tersa Sphinx Moth this morning, might signal that the new moth is about to emerge from the pupa stage?

Tersa Sphinx Moth - December 22nd

Twenty-four hours later, after the initial sighting of the Tersa Sphinx Moth perched on the stair railing, it is still there! How interesting that the moth looks to have not moved from that spot!

Tersa Sphinx Moth - Leesburg, Florida, December 22, 2016
I just took another look at the Tersa Sphinx Moth as it is perched on the railing. I can see a spot of white cobweb-like substance at its tail end.

Tersa Sphinx Moth - Leesburg, Florida, December 22, 2016
On Monday, December 19th, I pruned to the ground, a pink periwinkle plant that was nearby. That plant actually looked possessed or something as it was totally covered with a white cobweb-like substance.

Tersa Sphinx Moth - Leesburg, Florida, December 22, 2016

It looked like the entire plant was moldy. Perhaps I shouldn't have pruned the plant just yet as it may have been in use by the Tersa Sphinx Moth? Checking on the pupa, there is no change from the day before. Waiting!

Polka Dot Wasp Moth

What a most magnificent moth is the Polka Dot Wasp Moth. Today was the very first time I actually photographed one of these wasp moths in my front yard garden. I am very sure I had caught glimpses of this wasp moth in the past month or so, but didn't realize how spectacularly colorful it is.

It was just a bit past Noon on a most delightful weather day in Leesburg, Florida. The temperature was near 80 degrees although it might have felt a degree or two cooler with the winds of about 8 mph. There were lots of wispy clouds overhead that seemed to be moving towards me ... so the wind was out of the South.

I was just finishing up the washing of my white lattice work along the side of the carport. I noticed this wasp moth flying to and fro and thought I'd try to snap a photo or two. It was flying almost continuously, like it was aware a bird might be watching! I snapped a few photos as it lit on my Confederate Star Jasmine plant.

The Polka Dot Wasp Moth is referred to as the Oleander Caterpillar in larva form. It was many years ago that I grew several Oleander plants in my small townhouse backyard in Jacksonville, Florida. I remember finding hundreds of these caterpillar lined up on the underside of the Oleander leaves. It was actually kind of creepy to see so many caterpillar. Alas, I did not wait for the caterpillar to become a wasp moth -- heck, I had no idea that the Oleander Caterpillar would turn into such a beautiful moth.

The white polka dots on the wings of the wasp moth helped to create as most interesting action shot in the above photo. The wasp moth landed on my yellow car a couple of times and then flew back to the Confederate Star Jasmine plant.

The North American subspecies of the Polka Dot Wasp Moth is S. epilais jucundissima, which is locally common in all areas of Florida. The University of Florida has a neat reference guide for the Oleander Caterpillar with some excellent photos of the various stages of life.

June 2018, I was quite involved with an incredible number of Monarch Butterfly Caterpillars when I found my yellow Mandevilla plant invaded by the Polka Dot Wasp Moth Caterpillar. Some of the Monarch caterpillars were vying for space on that plant! I opted to rehome the PDWM caterpillars at this time because of all the Monarch activity!

Amazon Not Honoring Copyright Infringement Complaints

There is a real issue with Amazon not honoring copyright infringement complaints across their various country domains. The countries I have noticed that are resistant to removing infringing products include Canada, Germany and Spain.

Let us look at this one copyrighted image of mine of an Artsy Gerbera Daisy Watercolor. This is a flower that I grew in my flower garden in Jacksonville, Florida. After nurturing the flower until it was blossoming, I photographed it and then did a design of it in Photoshop. I produced a series of artsy watercolor images on various backgrounds and added to exclusive products in my Zazzle shop of Jaguar Julie Designs. I did not give usage rights to any other sellers, let alone to all the bootleg Chinese sellers on Amazon.

ILLEGAL USE OF COPYRIGHTED IMAGES ON AMAZON

The following images are screen captures of illegal products that are listed on Amazon Germany, Canada, and Spain. I searched all departments for "artsy gerbera daisy watercolor" and found all these products still listed despite Amazon telling me they would honor my copyright infringement complaints.

Today, I once again completed my copyright infringement complaints using the designated forms of Amazon through the various countries.

Report Intellectual Property Right Infringement on Amazon

The following three images are screen captures of the filed copyright infringement complaints on Amazon Germany, Canada, and Spain of June 21, 2016. These are the second such filings of these same complaints as it seems Amazon through its various country domains are providing lip service to the rights owners when they say they will remove the infringing products, but yet they remain on their sites!

Do not support the many thieves on Amazon! If you purchase one of these stolen designs, you will get inferior products with pixelated images.

Notice the watermark of Zazzle on my original design? Wonder why that isn't protecting my copyrighted image? Amazon needs to stop protecting the thieves of original designs.

Read more about the issues Zazzle artists and designers are having with all the bootleg sellers with stolen images and designs on Amazon. I've written three blog posts, part of a series, to discuss Amazon design theft of Zazzlers art. With well over 480 million products being sold on Amazon, there's no telling if what you are buying is authentic and "legal" to sell or if it is some counterfeit or stolen design! Buyer beware.

I was a staunch supporter and brand promoter for years of the Amazon marketplace. It was my go-to for pretty much any item I wanted to source online. I have actively been an Amazon affiliate as well. At these crossroads, I have opted to not buy through the Amazon marketplace. In addition, I may soon be ending my affiliate status as well.
