Content Scrapers and Black Hat SEO

In March 2019, I began to notice an unusual amount of daily traffic to my Google blog. I was accustomed to seeing the Google bots, active on various blog posts, using a host of different IPs, and usually visiting a particular blog post once and maybe twice. Around March 23rd, I began to see 3 IPs that were acting quite unusual in their activity and visiting particular blog posts numerous times in succession, making me think that somebody was stealing my copyrighted images and content.

It was because of that unusual activity that I began searching Google images to see if somebody had stolen my copyrighted images from my blog posts. That was like opening a can of worms and giving me quite the headache. I began finding so many content scraping websites with my copyrighted images and being indexed a bit too high in Google searches. And, many seemed to be hotlinking to my actual images in the Google blog posts!!

I noticed a curious visit from Israel on May 22, 2019 at 1:05am and then I saw the above questionable site showing a referring url to my Google blog. Hmmm!

The internet has become a minefield of non-authentic sites which fancy themselves as content farms "using" other people's original work to capture visits, often tricking unsuspecting visitors. Authenticity is an endangered species, being threatened by greedy, unscrupulous content scrapers. Please do not support these thieves ... when you see "Julie Ann Brady Blog" in the title or description, please be aware of the website you contemplate visiting. I don't recommend that you visit a non-original site with my content. Look for the ORIGINAL, authentic Google Blog, https://jaguarjulie.blogspot.com/ and support my work. Thank you.

DEAR GOOGLE CORPORATION : HELP!
I believe Google search teams pride themselves on getting it right; i.e., knowing the original content and copyrighted images that should be ranked. For sure, a blacklisted url with malware, anasfim, who is ranked high in Google image searches with my image and blog name, should be removed from your searches. And, another content scraper with that same stolen content is attachmax !

content scrapers anasfim and attachmax
Content Scrapers : anasfim and attachmax

DEAR MICROSOFT CORPORATION : HELP!
Reading Safer Web Exploration with Bing, I'm hoping your team will also be able to sort out the content scrapers, particularly the one ranking a bit too high in Google image searches with my image stolen from my Google blog. That site, anasfim, has also been blacklisted and has malware.

Recently I experienced issues with a top blog post of mine on Morton's Neuroma. Somebody submitted a "shocking content" report against that post. A competitor perhaps? Or somebody who had taken my copyrighted images and content to use? Another blog post of mine on Hollohaza Hungarian Porcelain was reported as violating policy. Why?

I have dealt with a number of high profile online sites hosting content thieves who have stolen hundreds of my copyright images and designs to use for their own purposes. It never ends.

CONTENT SCRAPERS WITH MALWARE!!!!!

I just found a website that has stolen my content with my review of Minute Maid Lemonade which set off my anti-virus software!

OMG, and now we have the evidence on the black hat negative seo tactics being employed. Here are more content scrapers I have found with my images and written content!! Doing a Google Image Search for "julie ann brady blog" brings up these images of mine, using my blog posts and link information! Google has indexed the stolen content with my blog name.

Some websites that stole my images and are indexed in Google images
Some websites that stole my images and are indexed in Google images
If you look closely at the image directly above, a Google image search brings up 2 images out of 10 linking directly to my Google blog ... the other 8 are content scrapers and pinterest!! All my hard work so that some unscrupulous content scraper can steal it.

I've included a list of content stealing websites below. These websites stole content from the Google blog of Julie Ann Brady. This is the initial list, it is in NO WAY a complete list of content scrapers. It seems like a bad penny, more and more pop up each day!!

Content stealing websites: anasfim.com, attachmax.com, tah-heetch.com, caroleneilson.com, listitdallas.net, flowernifty.com, theurbanwalker.net, bokehcambodia.com, michalschein.com, hasshe.com, litlepups.net, softballkelowna.com, thenewsleekness.com, thegolfclub.info, layout.alimb.us, studiofmp.com, freesongs4u.info, mitchj.info, lonneker.info, muzzikum.info, soggiorno.ayokonseling.com, keywordbasket.com, yousense.info, study5.info, lionelkearns.com, timaylenphotography.com, metanetworks.org

COPYRIGHT REMOVAL

It is going to be tedious, but it looks like I need to report the content scrapers who stole my images. Google has a form, Report alleged copyright infringement: Web Search. We will be doing this next.

WHAT THE HECK IS PROD UHRS PLAYMSN ??

I noticed a visitor from Halifax, Canada clicking through to my blog post on the Monarch Butterfly, Caterpillar, Pupa and Egg. The entry string was quite strange, showing prod.uhrs.playmsn/judge. Googling that link brought me to a sign in page for UHRS.

Blog visit from prod.uhrs.playmsn dot com /judge
Blog visit from prod.uhrs.playmsn dot com /judge/Views/
judge?hitappid=74&mode=judge&toolbar=false&g=1&fromHitApp=1
And, after I clicked on that link to the sign in page for UHRS, I immediately saw another blog visit from Microsoft Azure in Chicago through IP 23.100.232.233. I've written about unusual activity I noted from 3 Microsoft IPs for a two month period of time. Could it be that they were part of this?

WHAT THE HECK IS CLICKWORKER AND MECHANICAL TURK ??

So, is all this most unusual activity on my Google blog connected to UHRS clickworker dot com activities? To understand what that is, as I never heard of such a thing, I was reading an article, Asking Microsoft for fair treatment of UHRS workers.

Oh wow, I noticed an article with a Clickworker Review where a user deleted their account after one day!!!

WTH is Mechanical Turk??? Looking into it a little further, I read an article, Inside Amazon's clickworker platform. Holy smokes, but I've seen Amazon visits regularly to my blog!

COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

I first wrote a blog post, Help with the Content Stealers, way back in August 2012! At that time, I was a content writer on Squidoo. I had written hundreds of lenses and was including a phrase on my lenses, "do not copy do not plagiarize the contents of this page." Little good that did. And, now it is nearly 9 years later and content scrapers are more active than ever!

I have also been active for many years on Zazzle sharing my original photography and designs on thousands of cool products. So, now the content thieves were stealing the original designs to sell products on Amazon! Three years ago, in May 2016, I wrote about Amazon Design Theft of Zazzlers Art. I followed that blog post up with two more posts about the never-ending battle to stop the copyright infringements in the Amazon marketplace.

In September 2017, I found a website that had stolen hundreds of my copyrighted photography and images to offer as royalty-free images. Wrong! My blog post, Pinsdaddy Copyright Infringement, touched on the prolific thievery by that website. I heard from many other original artists who discovered that Pinsdaddy had ripped them off as well.

In October 2017, I wrote two blog posts, BlogCatalog Content Scraper and Blogarama Content Scraper. Both of those literally stole entire blog posts of mine, including original images, to feature on their websites and imply that I supported that. I did not support ripping off my entire blog posts to use on their sites.

In January 2019, I discovered something "new" in content thievery! Now, my Zazzle photography and designs were not only appearing in the Amazon marketplace, but also on Walmart! Holy smokes, but I never expected that Walmart would have so many content thieves ... It has changed the way I look at Walmart. My blog post, Copyright Violations on Amazon Walmart Google Shopping, demonstrated how the content stealers had branched out.

So, as you can probably guess, it has been a LONG time on the internet for me when dealing with copyright infringements and content scrapers. Will it ever end? Will Google and Microsoft be able to develop tools to discourage these thieves from continuing their work. Both Google and Microsoft really need to step up to the plate and stop indexing and ranking the thieves above the authentic and original content creators!!! Look for and support the authentic and original content creators. Amen.

Blogarama Content Scraper

This is my second blog post today discussing a blog directory content scraper or content thief. Earlier today, I published a blog post on another blog directory content scraper, BlogCatalog. This herein, "copyrighted" blog post puts the notorious spotlight on Blogarama for their scraping of my copyrighted content including images.

I've already said this ... that it is more than concerning how some websites will just plain STEAL your copyrighted content and copyrighted images and make you think it is OK. Calling yourself a blog catalog or blog directory does not make it OK to take without the author's permission their entire blog post with images to post on their website.

Normally, a reputable blog catalog or directory website will ask you if you would like to have your blog included first. Then, after you have granted permission to feature your blog, the blog catalog or directory will share SNIPPETS or an acceptable summary of your copyrighted blogs posts with a link to the ORIGINAL blog post where you can read more and see the original. They will not steal your entire blog post along with all the images to put on their site! That is essentially content theft.

It appears Blogarama is taking my entire blog posts and copyrighted images as soon as I publish them. This illegal practice needs to cease and desist – they do not have my permission to steal my content so blatantly! A reputable website will not steal your work and create duplicate content [that is not theirs] to submit to Google and other search engines to index as theirs.

I had been very busy dealing with all the content thieves on Amazon that were stealing hundreds of my copyrighted designs from my three Zazzle stores to sell as theirs on Amazon. It was well over a year of continuous reporting and finding the same designs popping up again and again with new sellers there who appeared to be mostly from China.

So, I finally seemed to catch up with the thievery on Amazon to next find a site named Pinsdaddy who has stolen hundreds of my copyrighted images to use on their website. But, worse that just using my copyrighted images, they are suggesting these images are stock images that are free to download and use by the reader. Good Grief!! Houston, we have a problem.

I'm still dealing with DMCA Take Down Notices against Pinsdaddy and have now begun to focus on the blog directories, filing first a DMCA Take Down Notice against BlogCatalog. And, today, filing against a blog directory site of Blogarama. I would say Blogarama seems to be much more concerning as they are literally stealing my content as I publish it!!!

As I've said previously, I would think Google can determine that this type of content thievery is happening. What the heck? It does involve Google blogs after all. Particularly concerning is to find my copyrighted image taken from my Google blog appearing in Google image searches as attributable to the scraper blog directories! Hey -- wrong! Google needs to penalize these content thieves now and bar them from future privileges.

This is not the only blog directory type of website that has scraped or stolen my copyrighted content. I'm also just sending out a DMCA Take Down Notice against Blogarama who seems to be STEALING my copyrighted work just as soon as I publish it!!!

I've sent my DMCA Take Down Notice against BlogCatalog to Cloudflare who quickly responded with additional information. Cloudflare advised that BlogCatalog's Hosting Provider is AMAZON-AES - Amazon.com, Inc., US with an Abuse Contact: abuse@amazonaws.com. It's been a few years since I communicated with Amazon AWS regarding a content scraper who kept moving their hosting to give me the runaround ... I hope I am not given the runaround again! I'm getting a bit old to deal with this type of behavior.

I would think Google can tell that this content thievery is happening ... especially when it involves one of their Google blogs! I have seen my newer blog posts copyrighted images appearing in Google searches as attributable to the scraper blog directories! That is really concerning that the original image is not appearing above the scraper blog directories. Just plain wrong! Google needs to penalize these content thieves.

DMCA Take Down Notices on Pinsdaddy

It has been a challenge filing my DMCA Take Down Notices against the website of Pinsdaddy who illegally took probably hundreds of my copyrighted images for use on their website, without my permission. The challenge has come into play that there is a lot of passing the buck or passing the DMCA Take Down Notice on to somebody else to handle.

I am not the only copyright holder affected by this copyright infringement! It is concerning that many of the images used there do bear the copyright imprints of the respective owners yet, Pinsdaddy thinks it is OK to use those copyrighted images!!

DMCA TAKE DOWN ON PINSDADDY TO ENOM

Enom Copyright copyright@enom.com
8:24 PM October 27, 2017

Hello,

Thank you very much for your notification. After researching this matter, we have found that Enom, LLC. is not the webhost, internet service provider, or administrator for the reported domain. Given that we are not the webhost for this domain, the allegedly infringing material identified in your notification does not reside on eNom’s servers. Accordingly, we do not have the technical ability to remove or disable specific items of objectionable content.

Again, due to the limited technical sphere in which Enom operates, we do not believe that we are the correct party to contact regarding this matter. In this instance, we suggest that you contact the party operating the website or the party hosting the website to have this matter properly resolved. A "ping" of the website you indicated often reveals the IP address of the party which probably hosts this website. You may then use https://www.ultratools.com/tools/ipWhoisLookup or another similar tool to identify this party.

Thank you again for your report, and please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions.

Regards,

Enom

Pinsdaddy Copyright Infringement

Are you a blogger or online writer who likes to use images for your articles? Do you observe due diligence when selecting free, non-copyrighted, stock images to use in those articles? It was brought to my attention today that Pinsdaddy is promoting people's copyrighted images for use as stock images. These images have been taken, without permission, from various online sites and posted on Pinsdaddy.

It appears that Pinsdaddy is akin to a content scraper who scraped copyrighted images from Pinterest to use on their website. You see mention of "Pinterest" in the titles of the stolen images when you click on them to come to the download page. Very concerned how Pinterest has been an enabler for content theft and copyright infringement!! I never was very keen on Pinterest just "taking" our copyrighted images for posting to their website and garnering the genuine traffic that our websites and blogs with OUR copyrighted images should be receiving directly.

In this copyrighted image of mine of Autumn Beauty Sunflowers that I grew in my sunflower garden, you can clearly see my copyright at the bottom of the photo.

Shown above is a composite photo that I assembled with some of my copyrighted images being illegally used on Pinsdaddy. As you are looking at the copyrighted images revealed in a search on Pinsdaddy, many of the same images repeat multiple times which makes the viewer think there are more images there than there are. As I searched on September 25, 2017, I was not finding certain copyrighted images of mine that I had found the day before. Something is faulty with the Pinsdaddy searches or they are changing the search tags to HIDE stolen copyrighted images!

Pinsdaddy Took Images From Pinterest

Checking for my images on Pinsdaddy, it is curious how this website is attributing Pinterest in the filtered results: http://www.pinsdaddy.com/jaguarjulie-pinterest_gkiiz3R7BbA2IibC5mVlOgvUYAlR3d0GITH%7CNC5ln84/

Pinsdaddy Incorrect Photo Attribution on Copyrighted Images

And, when you click on one of my copyrighted images, it brings you to the download page with the stolen image and gives you a guide for the attribution of the stolen image!

UPDATE: After filing my DMCA take down notices on September 25, 2017, I returned to the Pinsdaddy website to do further searches to find my copyrighted images with different search terms. It seems something was not working with their search function!! All of my search terms were truncated to 3 letters; e.g., searching on "brady" I got "bra" which was obviously not what I was searching for.

DMCA Take Down Notices - Some Stolen Copyrighted Images

Compiling the data from Pinsdaddy of stolen copyrighted images and matching that up with my official publications with my copyrighted images is time-consuming and not particularly rewarding. Here are just some of the stolen copyrighted images:

There are a number of my copyrighted images that bear my "Copyright JaguarJulie Ann Brady" which were taken without permission to post on Pinsdaddy -- it appears they took ALL the sunflower photos that I have been posting to my Google blog!
