Missing Person Alert : Jessica Ann Fender, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

One of my friends from Overstock Auctions has asked me to help in any way that I can to get the word out about her missing daughter. The following information is posted on her blog, but I've also included it here.

Name: Jessica Ann Fender
Height: 4 foot 11 inches
Weight: Approx. 155 lbs.
Age: 23 years
Eyes: Greenish/Grey
Hair: Brown, thick and curly, but often worn pulled back tightly

Distinguishing marks or characteristics: Jessica has diminished use of her left arm and fingers, and holds her arm stiff and bent with a fist, due to a stroke she suffered a few years back.

She walks with a slight limp on her left side. She has two tattoos--a butterfly on her ankle and a large one on her arm of a rose. She has recently had her tongue pierced right before she was last seen. She is bi-polar and requires daily medication that she does not have in her possession. Her purse and cell phone were not found in her apartment and may or may not be in her possession. She is the single mother of a 2-1/2 year old daughter who is safe but needs her mother back, hopefully safe and unharmed.

She was last seen at her apartment in Oak Creek Apartments, S. Lee Road, Oklahoma City, OK, on Thursday 12/07/06 in the evening at approx. 9-10 p.m. She does not drive because of her disability. She was reported missing on Saturday 12/09/06 when she was not found at her apartment for her scheduled visitation with her daughter. There is a possibility she may be injured or disoriented as blood was found at her apartment. She may still be in the Oklahoma City Area.

Significant information as to her whereabouts is gratefully appreciated by her family, most especially her 2-1/2 year old daughter, who needs her mother.

Please notify: Oklahoma City Police Department Homicide Department Detective Kemmett (405) 297-1126 Case # 06-110642. You may also call Jessica's parents: Donna 405-962-9997 or Mike 405-476-6140.

UPDATE: Jessica's body was found on February 9, 2007, in a ditch MacArthur Boulevard and N.W. 178th Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It appears she had been murdered.

I was saddened to learn that Jessica's mother, Donna Marie Arena, passed away on September 29, 2018.

How Old Are You - Take the Eons Challenge

How Old Are You?  Take the Eons Challenge! I recently heard about Eons, a new company that focuses on helping a generation of boomers and seniors live the biggest life possible.

Eons celebrates life that begins at 50 and wants to help people celebrate their accomplishments and make the most of today.

Eons won't launch until July, but they're already encouraging people like me to get perspective on the things I really want to achieve with their "How Old Are You?" challenge.

It's easy: Tell Eons just one or up to 100 things you want to do before you are 100 and, once you're registered, you could win a chance to make one of those dreams come true!

P.S. I just checked on the Eons website and see that it is temporarily parked!

Chris Daughtry for my American Idol

It's been several days since the American Idol show that sent Chris Daughtry home. He was da bomb. I was dumbfounded to hear his name announced as the idol going home.

The night before, I just about wore out the redial button on my telephone. But, for every call that I was able to get through, I'd say 4 or 5 did not go through. My hubby suggested I try the other number, but I didn't want to chance entering a wrong number.

He also suggested that I place a vote for another idol, but somehow I knew that Chris needed my votes. So, you know, I'm thinking--it must have been ME jamming the phone lines so that the other callers couldn't get through for Chris!

My favorite of his performances was undoubtedly Bryan Adams, "Have you ever really loved a woman." I forgot that I've always liked that song, but Chris brought a worthy quality to it.

Check out his video performance of Bryan Adams' song -- I love this!

Best Bags from a Self-Described Bag-a-holic

I'm a self-described "bag-a-holic" as I own a few hundred bags, have bought and sold bags online for a number of years, and search for bags everyday. But, by no means would I assume the title of "bag lady" as I believe plenty of others have claimed that dubious distinction.

Somedays I feel downright bag-gy as I travel the many paths that the internet brings to my door. I have seen so many styles, shapes, colors, and brands [genuine and not so genuine] of bags that it boggles my mind for sure! How can there be that many kinds of handbags? That's what my hubby would like to know too!

A bag is a purse or sack or handbag. To us ladies, it is an essential component of our wardrobe! We've got to have the right bag to go with our new outfit ... plus a pair of shoes! This lens presents my interpretation of the "Best Bags" --no matter what the price-- as I see them. Trust me as this is a tough task to present my "Top Ten" as it's like comparing apples with oranges or trying to pick your favorite child!

P.S. Bag in Hungarian, is táska which comes from the Italian tasca.

My top 5 best bags ever:
  1. Givenchy Baguette
  2. La Tour Eiffel Papillon Bow Barrel
  3. Banana Republic Tangiers
  4. Chanel Black Hobo
  5. Dooney & Bourke Pink Ostrich Domed Satchel
I've written many an article over the years on the subject of Best Bags as I see them. All in all, I've always been a big fan of the designer Givenchy! Take a look at my blog post on my Givenchy Designer Handbag and Accessories collection.

Are you a fan of your opposite-sex celebrity look-a-like

Are you a fan of your opposite-sex celebrity look-a-like? The other day, I told you about my discovering the face recognition, celebrity match site of MyHeritage.com.

Well, I want to tell you about one of my matches that I find most interesting!

I had opted to view all matches, both female and male, to see what male celebrities I might resemble. Wow, what a pleasant surprise for me when I put in one of my older pictures as a beauty pageant winner. Take a look below at the picture to see for yourself who it might be!
  1. Evangeline Lilly 53%
  2. Ricky Martin 52% [shown above in the picture]
  3. Shania Twain 51%
  4. Kylie Minogue 51%
  5. Jennifer Capriati 51%
  6. Ashley Judd 51%
  7. Amanda Peet 47%
So, judging from the other celebrities in the list above, wouldn't that mean then that Evangeline Lilly is a match for Ricky Martin and vice versa?

It tickles me that Ricky Martin is one of my matches as I have been one of his fans for quite some time. I've waiting ever so patiently for Ricky to cut another album and to return to performing so that I may have a chance of finally seeing him in person. Each time that Godiva Chocolates has had a charity auction on eBay, I've been there! Yes, I've bid way too much of my hard-earned money, but come up on the short end of the stick, being outbid each time! Hey, Ricky!, can you hear me?

P.S. Have you ever heard about people, as they grow older, beginning to look more like their pets? Well, for me, I much prefer to look like someone of which I'm a big fan!

Seeing Spots? It's actually Polka Dots the latest fashion trend

Seeing Spots? It's actually Polka Dots, the latest fashion trend! Are you ready for Spring? Want to be in style and have a little fun while you're at it? Why not try some polka dots! Yes, polka dots are back in style again this season. I personally have always favored polka dots and have variety of my own dresses, shoes, and handbags. You can also find a variety of polka dot items that I've got listed for sale.

How about this cute little handbag? This has been one of the most popular styles that I've carried. It's a petite bucket tote that comes in various patterns--genuine leather + moc croc detailing, suede + leather, hearts + dragonflies + butterflies screenprinted, and now polka dots! What sets this pretty tote off from other similarly-sized handbags is the pretty antique-style, heart-shaped silvertone handles. These handles are such unique carrying handles that are like jewelry accents. Everytime I carry my handbag, I set it on the table in front of me. You can't believe all the compliments I get on my bag.

Say, did you ever wonder about the origin of polka dots? Well, according to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, the history of polka dots reveal an ancient origin.

"They first became common on clothing in the mid to late nineteenth century in Britain, at the same time as polka music. The music, and its corresponding dance, became the height of fashion in Prague in 1835, arriving in London in 1842. The first recorded instance of "polka dot" was in 1884.

It was named after the dance, probably because the clothes became fashionable at the same time. The word derives from the Czech word for a polish woman, although it may also owe its origin the the Czech word "pulka", meaning half, as in the half-steps in Bohemian peasant dances."

I wrote a very special article on polka dots - a spotted trend. Are YOU seeing spots??

Do you have a celebrity look-a-like

Do you have a celebrity look-a-like?  I do! How many times have people stopped you on the street to ask, "Hey, you know who you look like?" Has anyone ever stopped you and asked for your autograph? Well, maybe you need to check out a new website! Let me tell you more about it.

This past week, while listening to a local NBC affiliate morning news program, I heard about the website, MyHeritage.com. You can sign up to be a member quickly and then upload photos of yourself to discover what celebrities you resemble.

After the face recognition program captures your facial characteristics, it searches its database and matches it to celebrities. Well, this sounded like fun to me, so I took a little break from my normal routine and gave the website a try. Honestly, I tried it more than once!

After the program ran the first time, I found that I bore a 72% resemblance to Shirley Temple with one of my recent pictures. See the picture above.

That same picture prompted the following additional celebrities resemblances, with associated percentages:
  1. Julie Christie 71%
  2. Samantha Fox 70%
  3. Brigitte Bardot 70%
  4. Jennifer Jason Leigh 66%
  5. Jamie Lynn Spears 66%
  6. Olivia Newton-John 63%

This particular picture of me returned these match results:
  1. Eva Mendes 67%
  2. Gwen Stefani 62% [shown above in the picture]
  3. Joni Mitchell 61%
  4. Jami Lynn Spears 55%
You'll need to check out my website to read about my additional celebrity look-a-likes! [Update: I hid that page.]

And, if you want to find out for yourself what celebrity you resemble, by all means check out MyHeritage.com for yourself.

P.S. They don't pay me to send you their way!

Have you found Squidoo yet

Have you checked out Squidoo yet? Well, it's been a matter of just weeks since I was first introduced to Squidoo by BzzAgent. I've already created 8 uniquely creative lenses and feel that Squidoo has "taken over my life!" But, I mean that in a good way. You can check out my lensmaster profile, JaguarJulie, to see what I've written!

The lens that I've created are as follows--yes, you do see a theme--Hungarian and proud to be Hungarian:
  • Made in Hungary: Not Just Goulash!
  • Gulyás Goulash: Hungarian Goulash
  • Hungarian Spaetzle: Size Matters!
  • Hungarian Gypsies aka Roma
  • Nagy, the Hungarian Name
  • Satu Mare
  • Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Squidoo FAQ: "A lens is one person's (lensmaster's) view on a topic he cares about. More specifically, a lens is a single web page filled with information and links that point to other web pages, to continually updated RSS feeds, or to relevant advertising."

In September 2014, Squidoo transferred all the lenses in their portfolio to HubPages. Squidoo is no more.

Hey Girlfriend - Thinking of You Today

I received this email from a "girlfriend" about the significance of girlfriends in one's lives. If you think this applies to you, feel free to pass it on. Comments are welcome!

I'm only as strong as the cocktails I drink, the hairspray I use, and the girlfriends I have. Here's to you! Why do we only have parties for each other when one of us gets married, pregnant, has a birthday, or retires? What would most of us do without our sisters, confidants, and shopping, lunching and traveling girlfriends? Let's celebrate each other for each other's sake!

Someone will always be prettier.
They will always be smarter.
Their house will be bigger.
They will drive a better car.
Their children will do better in school.
And their husband will fix more things around the house.

So let it go,
and love you and your circumstances.

Think about it.

The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart.
And the most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children.
And the richest woman you know, she's got the car, the house, the clothes....might be lonely.
And the Word says if "I have not Love, I am nothing."

So, again, love you.
Love who you are.

Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say "I am too blessed to be stressed and too anointed to be disappointed!"

"Winners make things happen.
Losers let things happen."

Be Blessed ladies and pass this on to encourage another woman.

"To the world you might be one person, but to one person you just might be the world".

Auction Acronyms - What do they really mean

Have you ever wondered what all those auction acronyms really mean? Well, I've been buying and selling online through a number of known auction and listing sites for several years. I only recently found this humorous listing of "auction acronyms." Please note that this list has descriptions that are "tongue-in-cheek" i.e., not necessarily the true descriptions!

It was actually quite timely as, being a seasoned buyer, I got "stung" by a seller who claimed an item was "NWOT" ... which in the real world means "new without tags." She also claimed the item was perfect for a "valentine's day gift" and that it had "no marks, tears, or wear" whatsoever. Stay tuned to read another blog post when I tell you more about this item.

OK, now for the auction acronyms ... I'm not sure who to give credit to for being the original source of this list. If I find out who put this together, I'll list the source. Or, if you know who we can thank, please let me know.

Bzz Bzz - An Award Winner - Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner

Bzz Bzz -- An Award Winner -- Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner! Well, before I tell you about this award-winner, let me first introduce myself to you. I'm a BzzAgent! Yes, that's right. I've been a BzzAgent for a few years now.

So, what the heck is a BzzAgent anyway? I'm an "agent" participating actively in the "Word-of-Mouth" revolution ... "Where People Own Marketing."

The official word on this ... "In the past few years, BzzAgents and other word-of-mouth advocates have proven that honest opinions are more powerful than interruptive marketing messages ... Members of the BzzAgent network are making history by participating in the most important 'reality marketing' experiment ever conducted ... By Bzzing, we're all changing the rules of the game. Word-of-mouth has long been considered the most effective form of connecting people to products, but, until now, nobody has really captured its essence and power."

One of the BzzAgent project I'm participating in today, is something that is making my life a little easier around the house. I've always dreaded cleaning the shower and making sure it's free of soap scum, mold, and mildew; I tend to have a mold allergy--so this is important for me--to have a mold-free home. I was a tad bit skeptical about the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner, if it could deliver. But, each day, I'm a little more impressed with the product ... let me tell you more about it ...

It seems that this time of the year is the time for many awards. You know what I mean with all those award shows on television? Well, I've found another award winner to tell you about. It's the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner! Yes, it is an award winner too! It received the iParenting Media Award, the "Top Innovative Product" of the year award 2004 plus it has earned the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval ! Wow, imagine that.

I always wanted a maid to help me clean around the house. Now, I've pretty much got that for my bathroom shower with this shower cleaner!

As you can see in the picture at left, this is the actual unit showing the dispenser with the bottle of cleaning solution. Notice the blue oval button near the bottom of the unit? You simply press that button when you are ready to leave your shower. The unit automatically begins to beep and will commence operation after you have left the shower. At the bottom of the unit is a 360-degree spray nozzle that turns to spray all the walls of the shower.

The Scrubbing Bubbles® product is a special patented formula. It is recommended to be used on a daily basis to tackle soap scum plus those nasty mold and mildew stains. You should see a sparkly clean shower after 14 to 21 uses. So, with each refill bottle lasting up to 21 cleanings, you should have a clean shower after just one bottle's use!

OK, don't take MY word for it, check it out for yourself. See what others are saying about the Scrubbing Bubbles® Automatic Shower Cleaner by visiting AutomaticShowerCleaner.com.

This is a product of S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc.; so you know it's a good product! Hey, want to check out BzzAgent for yourself? Well, take a look at bzzagent.com and tell them I sent you!!!

According to Melissa Kagan, "freelance accessories guru and fashion writer" who contributes to iVillage, "You don't have to spend a million dollars to look like a million dollars.

It's all about how you put yourself together." I took a look at her style suggestions for Spring 2006 handbags and have summarized some of them for you, with my personal recommendations.
  • "Smallville ... Whether slung across your body or dangling from your wrist, these palm-sized prizes are little more than wallets with straps."
  • "Add Some Structure ... Slouch is out and structured is in." -- The Structured Handbag
  • "The Black and White ... this season they are breaking out as outfit enhancers."
  • "Neutral Territory ... Earthy extras are resurging this season. Linen, raffia, straw and other natural fibers are all making appearances in the form of must-have handbags."
  • "Living Large ... The theme for this season's 'It' bags seems to be the bigger the better. Offered in exotic skins, bold colors and a multitude of different shapes."
